Trackbacks now go in a moderation queue

I’ve added the Moderate Trackbacks plugin ot this blog. This means that trackback entries will now go in to the queue along witih posts, which means there may be a (significant) delay in them showing up. I’m not entirely sure how the whole trackback scheme is supposed to work, so bear with me on this.

Well, that makes two of us! It sounds like they are at least partially automated. Here’s some documentation that might help us understand (all links stolen from Wikipedia – how shameless):
    - Little Timmy asks about TrackBacks
    - Beginner’s Guide to TrackBack
    - TrackBack Technical Specification

In the meantime I’m gonna play some online poker!

Thanks for the links. I’d been wondering about it for years now.

Crap! I got another one — this time for virtual strip poker. It’s hurting my prudish and conservative sensibilities. Quick, somebody read a manual so we can stop this thing!

Seriously, is it possible that they’re just leaching addresses and spoofing the appearance of a trackback. A new variety of spam targeted at bloggers?

I think it is the WordPress software actually sending the stuff to you. I’m going to just disable email notifications for trackbacks.
