Chromehounds

One of the most interesting things about playing CH on Xbox Live are the notices that such and such a person donated a massive amount of money to the country, and is awarded a medal for it. If by interesting I mean tedious and boring, anyway. Come on Sega. Heh.

Google Maps for mobile?

Google Maps for mobile? Well, not really. It looks like it requires Java, maybe? So, it doesn’t work on my Treo, which just renders HTML.
Amusingly, maps.google.com works fine. It’s just this special “maps for mobile” that fails. It’s probably for the best, though. I’d expect Java to be incredibly slow on a phone device, heh.

Contractors

How does a contractor not know that the work they are doing (cutting in to the ceiling) is going to spew dust and dirt everywhere, and then not put down plastic sheeting or something similar?

Argh. What does he think we did to deserve one of those? With any luck we can fix that situation, and they’ll leave before we are forced to pay for another new stadium.

Search engines for programmers

One thing that I’ve noticed, and I’m sure many of you have noticed, is how hard it is to search for documents containing programming terms such as “operator!=” or “read()”. The results on Google are completely worthless. Lycos results are similarly worthless.
I was surprised to find that AltaVista seems to return relevant results for “operator!=”, [...]
