I wear my sunglasses on my forehead all the time. This is how I do not misplace them. After a period of time I get the dents right at the bridge. Sometimes I even line the sunglasses up with the dents so you won't see them. I have recently started to get headaches more at the temple. Now I have never really gotten headaches. So I am thinking it maybe the glasses. Dents I can handle, headaches not so much. looks like I am going to be losing some sunglasses.

The tile collision tool only works for me when I set the spacing to zero. However, whenever I do that I get an offset in the tiles. When I set the spacing to two it says the "number of tiles" is zero, and and I'm unable to draw the collision boundary: the collision marker just stays stuck to my mouse wherever I move it.
Has anyone else had this problem? Can anyone suggest another tool for collision detection?

Woohoo, final fix!

Used Williams texture packer (above). I am using 16x16 and like everyone is saying, the default packer is hardcoded for 32x32.

So IN CONCLUSION:

1) Use William Whispell's image packer to start (nice little UI too!). Note: you have to create your own output files beforehand, which the program then overwrites. After creating the files, open the "level packfile" in text editor and make sure the "index" field starts at 0 and increases by 1 each time (0,1,2,3...).

2) BEFORE CREATING YOUR MAP in "Tiled Map Editor", set your output type to XML under the Edit >> Preferences settings. THEN do File >> New...

3) Open your .tmx file in text editor and make sure your is pointing to the correct file location (for this tutorial it should just be "level.png").

Ok, may have fixed that problem (and run into another).

To fix the .tmx output file source code open Tiled and go to Edit >> Preferences >> Change to XML (new version is default 64bit zlib).
DO THIS BEFORE CREATING THE LEVEL. If you open a level you already created, change the output source formatting and save it IT WILL NOT CHANGE :(

I'm still getting a black screen though ;/

I had the same problem - open your .tmx file in a text editor and find the <image source = "data\packer\output\tiles1"

Change it to "level.png" (or whatever your file is named)

That should fix that problem... but might just bring you to the next issue I'm trying to deal with, which is the .tmx file encoding seems to have changed.
When I open the .tmx file from this tutorial it has a long list of "" for data
When I open MY .tmx file it says and then has a huge string for the data.

No clue if there is a way to switch back to the old "" style or not, so I'm stuck here currently :(

I feel like I correctly placed the files, but whenever I try to run I get the following error message:

Exception in thread "Thread-2" javax.media.opengl.GLException: com.badlogic.gdx.utils.GdxRuntimeException: File not found: data\packer\output\tiles1 packfile (Internal)

I'm not sure why its looking for an "output" folder under "packer".
Has anyone had a similar problem or know what to do?

Thanks

Thanks William Whispell. You tile packer seems to be the only one which works for me. It's not perfect, it has its own flaws, like having weird indices 0,1,2,1,2,3,2,3,4 etc. but it's not a problem, I simply enumerate them from 1-n and it works perfectly.
All other tile packers, like the one in this tutorial or tile packer (deprecated) or tile packer 2. All of them messes ordering really bad. Indices are pretty correct, but they are not pointing to the right tile.
So everyone, I suggest using William's tile packer.

By the way, great tutorial. Gave me a heads up.

Come Back Now And We'll Give You A Super Deal!

Eskimo North Forever! | http://www.eskimo.com

We provide 56Kb/s PPP Internet dial access. Our service uses standard protocols and is platform independent. It works with Linux, Windows, MacOS, and many other platforms.
56k Dial Access Rates
US Dollars One Month Three Months Six Months One Year
Manual Pay $20 $54 $102 $168
Auto Pay $16 $48 $96 $168
Includes Shell

Normal 56k dial, ISDN, UUCP, and DSL accounts also include a shell account which provides all the host services such as E-mail, News, and Web Hosting under our domain as part of the service package. A shell account may be purchased independently if you get Internet access elsewhere.
Usage Limits

Accounts are limited to 300 hours total usage per month. Session limits vary between 2 hours and 8 hours depending upon the network used. The idle timeout varies between 10 and 15 minutes depending upon the network.
Speed and Compatibility

Speed is affected by the distance you are from the central office, the quality of the telephone company wire, and whether or not you are on a pair gain device.

Noise will reduce your connection speed and may cause disconnects. Pick up your telephone receiver, dial a single digit to get rid of dial-tone, and listen. If you can hear any noise at all, that will impair a 56k dialup connection.

Signal reflections are caused by improperly terminated lines. The easiest way to troubleshoot this is to unplug all other devices sharing a line with your modem and see if that eliminates your problem.

Different manufacturers modems work with each other with varying degrees of success. If you get poor performance on one of our access numbers, click on your city and it will give alternates. One of these may provide a better connection with your particular hardware.
Free Two Week Trial

We offer a free two-week trial so that you can see how our service will perform for you before you shell out any hard earned cash.

I too ran into the problem with the tileset containing the improper index counts. I wrote a GUI wrapper around a copy of the TexturePacker class and fixed some of the issues. I have not tested this too much, but it has been working for me. Even though the GUI lets you set tile size it is hard coded for 32x32. I put it up at http://www.themanwithnolife.com/TilePacker.jar feel free to download a copy. It will output the packed file, the combined image, the tsx tileset and the tmx file for TileEditor (you can double click and start making your world). You should place all your output files to be in the same directory, then you can move them to required paths as described in this tutorial. This will solve the black screen issue. The black screen is due to TexturePacker placing the full path to the image in the output. This is fixed in the GUI version I posted.

Thank you,
William
